According to a leak, Wizards of the Coast is making huge changes to the Open Game License (OGL) that allows third parties--other studios and individuals—to release games that use Dungeons and Dragons as a base system. The changes are... not good. They're anti-competitive and hostile to the wider TTRPG community. What's really interesting is how the rest of the industry is fighting back. The material conditions of the TTRPG community--how tight knit it is, copyright and trademark issues--give the community the leverage to push back against the new DnD OGL. I give a rundown of what's going on from an anti-capitalist perspective.
