“Our primary mission is to fight against inequality. The primary ways that we do that are not so much investing in supply-side changes and strategies like workforce development, but really working on the demand-side and particularly the choices societies make about their economy. Because economies are chosen by people, they don't just magically happen,” says Hilary Pennington, executive VP of programs, Ford Foundation.
WorkingNation sat down with Pennington at JFF Horizons in New Orleans.
Pennington says, “We focus a lot on worker power. We have a program area called the Future of Work(ers) – not the Future of Work – because it really is focused on putting workers at the table as consequential decisions are being made about the structure of jobs, about the use of AI, for example.”
She continues, “We do a lot of work on technology and society, particularly trying to fight against misinformation and trying to make more concrete and more visible for people the choices about how technology gets structured for justice or for ill.”
