Sibelius is well known for his wonderful symphonic works but less so for his piano pieces.
Here, Shura plays the lovely Romance in D flat Op.24 No.9 which like the first and second symphonies shows the melancholy influence of Tchaikovsky's heart on sleeve compositions.
Cherkassky brings his most expressive and soulful touch to the piece given as an encore in his Royal Festival Hall recital 1985.
