Ingredients:
Bottle gourd (Kaddu): 1 medium, about 450g
Onion: 1 large
Tomato: 3 medium
Green chili: 3 – 4
Fresh cilantro (coriander): A handful
Jaggery (gur or sugar): 1 Tbsp (crushed/powder), optional
Turmeric powder: 2/3 Tbsp
Red chili powder: 1 Tbsp
Coriander/cumin powder: 1 ¼ Tbsp
Salt: To your taste
For Tadka:
Chopped onion: ½ medium
Smashed garlic: 3 – 4
Cumin seeds: 2/3 Tbsp
Curry Leaves: About 15 leaves
Ghee (or butter): 2 Tbsp
Oil: 3 – 4 tbsp
Please adjust the spiciness according to your taste. This dish goes very well with plain white Basmati rice. Please check my other video showing how to make Basmati rice.
