As their divorce proceedings continue, the shadiness of Tisha Campbell-Martin’s soon-to-be ex-husband Duane Martin’s financial dealings continue to come to the light. The then couple filed for bankruptcy in 2016 long before they decided to file for divorce. Now that they are in divorce court, their bankruptcy proceedings are under scrutiny.
When they filed Chapter Seven bankruptcy, they were drowning in over $15 million in debt. According TMZ, it was found that Martin had income coming in and was hiding it in order to escape paying off debt. He was receiving income from a real estate investment and a clothing store and did not disclose that during the bankruptcy filing.
It was also discovered that Martin received a $1.4 million loan from friends Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith through their company. He used that loan to then buy a house, sell the house for $1 million and pocket the profits. He never disclosed this deal to bankruptcy officials, and now he is in the hot seat for it. Will and Jada had no clue they were being used for a sham, so they will not face any consequences.
Since it has been discovered that the All of Us star was “concealing” and “diverting valuable assets” after filing bankruptcy, officials are requesting that his discharge of debts be revoked and that he turn over the money that he was hiding.
It’s reported that Campbell-Martin tried to persuade Martin to be truthful but he wouldn’t listen, so she revealed what she knew so she would face any legal repercussions. After filing for divorce in February 2018, she revealed that Martin was hiding money from her during their 20 years of marriage. The My Wife & Kids star is requesting spousal support and wants the court to block his ability to request spousal support from her.
