Intro story-shortly after being saved
I had put myself back in a spirit of bondage to fear
There is more to the story but we will get into that later
Romans 8:14-17
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba,[a] Father.” 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
I wanted to use this a sermon on how to not let fear stop you from doing what the Lord has asked
I even had a funny story about fear
This is not the fear this scripture is speaking of
It is very important when you study, preach, and read the word to understand the context of the scripture you read. As well as historical context
There are different fears that the bible talks about and we need to understand these fears to deduct what the bible is referencing in this scripture
Here is a list of 5 different fears
1) There is a natural fear. This is the fear that a person has of its creator. We have this fear because we understand our own insignificance towards our creator. His greatness is far more than we can understand while we walk this earth. Knowing He is holy and the creator of all. This is a fear we wont lose ever. Even when we are made perfect in glory we will still bow down before Him in constant awe.
2) A carnal fear. That is our fear towards man. The fear of what they might say or do to us this is the fear that can cause us to be fearful to do the Lords work. We must pray that the Lord will deliver us from this fear and obey Him.
