The inaugural session at Raisina Dialogue 2022 began with an acknowledgment of the vast challenges facing the world today. From the American withdrawal from Afghanistan and Russian actions in Ukraine to the devastating damage inflicted by the pandemic, the inaugural speakers laid out a host of tasks that must be grappled with.
Ursula Von Der Leyen, President of the European Commission, underscored the need for creating a new consensus for the new world order. President Von Der Leyen highlighted the need for partnerships between key actors like India and the European Union. She emphasised that shared values of democracy and respect for a rules-based international order would help the players set global standards, secure their supply chains, and create a free and open Indo-Pacific.
