"Playability approaches effortlessness" on Bourgeois' 12-fret 00 "Coupe". With crystal clear trebles and a satisfyingly woody, round low end, this small-bodied 12-fretter has the sensitivity needed for delicate fingerstyle, but it's also got the guts for some heavy strumming in an old-time band or for chunking out some jazz chords. Bourgeois's Aged Tone process has given the Adirondack spruce top more of that warm, played-in tone, while Indian rosewood brings depth and complexity. There’s no sacrifice when it comes to tone here, as the bridge placement on a 12-fret body is in the “sweet spot” in the bracing pattern, making this guitar extremely responsive and surprisingly loud. Like all guitars in their Heirloom Series, this 00-12 "Coupe" sports all kinds of vintage-inspired appointments and construction elements, such as animal protein glue and torrefied Adirondack spruce bracing, to capture as much of the sound of an old vintage guitar as a new guitar can.
