Amtrak is proud to take passengers where they need to go, but sometimes that ride is delayed.

Delays can happen for a variety of reasons including weather and scheduled maintenance, but often it is due to "freight train interference". This is when our trains are delayed by slower freight trains ahead of us while our trains are traveling on their tracks. Although Federal law states that passenger trains have priority, this is often ignored by the freight railroads.

Last year, freight trains delayed passengers more than 1.2 million minutes. You shouldn't have to wait for freight. When it comes to passenger rail, it's your right to be on time.
