Aparna Halpé, from Sri Lanka, Orchestra Leader of Toronto's Orquestra Solidaridad Tango, presents an analysis of "A Don Agustín Bardi" - Osvaldo Pugliese. This is the musical portion of their presentation @ La Nuestra Tango Festival. Members of Orquestra Solidaridad Tango: Suhashini Arulanandam - Violin, Aparna Halpé - Violin, Sarah Kwok - Viola, Sumi Lee - Piano, Valeria Matzner - Vocals, Amanda Ramey - Violin, Sybil Shanahan - Cello, Heyni Solera - Bandoneon, Chloe Ann Williamson - Double Bass, & on bandoneon from Seoul, South Korea, Sinai Rim. They play 3 handmade string instruments loaned by Women in Lutherie and Jeemin Kim. At about 8:05 on the timeline they play the music as it was originally written, then they follow with the arrangement by O. Pugliese as learned by musicians who played with him. Highlighting Aparna's point that tango, both the music and the dance, is a living tradition, learned & passed down through human connections. At about 19:15 on the timeline they play the complete "A Don Agustín Bardi". Friday, August 5, 2022. Brooklyn, New York City. An event for COVID-19 vaccinated participants. [ Ссылка ]
