8 warning signs of a leaky gut.
When the gut is “leaky” and bacteria and toxins enter the bloodstream, it can cause widespread inflammation and possibly trigger a reaction from the immune system. Supposed symptoms of leaky gut syndrome include bloating, food sensitivities, fatigue, digestive issues and skin problems.
1. Chronic diarrhea, constipation, gas or bloating. Leaky gut syndrome, or increased IP, can cause uncomfortable symptoms, such as constipation, diarrhea, and bloating. People who think that they may have leaky gut syndrome can try making dietary changes to manage their symptoms. Not everyone responds in the same way to different foods.
2. Nutritional deficiencies. Finally, leaky gut may contribute to a long list of mineral deficiencies because of the ongoing inflammation and damage to carrier proteins. The most common are iron deficiency, vitamin B12 deficiency, magnesium deficiency which can lead to fatigue, neuropathies or muscle pain
3. Poor immune system. With leaky gut, damaged cells in your intestines don't produce the enzymes needed for proper digestion. As a result, your body cannot absorb essential nutrients, which can lead to hormone imbalances and a weakened immune system.
4. Headaches, brain fog, memory loss. If the bowels are not functioning well, there is increased intestinal permeability of the bowels to bacteria and toxins or "leaky gut." For some, a "leaky gut" may also increase the risk of migraine headaches.
5. Excessive fatigue. The researchers also found markers of inflammation in the blood samples of chronic fatigue syndrome patients, likely due to a "leaky gut" from intestinal problems that let bacteria enter the blood. Bacteria in the blood could trigger an immune response and worsen symptoms, the researchers said.
6. Skin rashes and problems such as acne, eczema or rosacea. Can gut problems cause skin problems?

8. Cravings for sugar or carbs. Having an unhealthy gut usually means sugar cravings will show up in the form of sweets, bread, fruit, or dairy . Too much sugar consumption contributes to an overgrowth of “bad” bacteria in the gut, also known as dysbiosis, which also creates an inflammatory environment in the body.
9. Arthritis or joint pain. A lot of people remain skeptical of the theory that arthritis symptoms can be caused or worsened by problems in the gut. But research strongly suggests connections between leaky gut, the gut microbiome, and arthritis.
