Promising, But CONFLICTED - Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider Review. The developers of the excellent Blazing Chrome have returned! I would not call this a "negative" review, but I do have more to say than just unwavering praise. This time the Arcade Crew have swapped over to a more common retro genre - the ninja action platformer. Clearly inspired by games like Ninja Gaiden, Shinobi, Super Metroid, and Mega Man X, Moonrider attempts to blend together a lot of difference elements into something new and interesting. The real question is, are the devs actually successful at doing this? In this review, I am going to forgo the usual game of spot the reference and instead focus on Moonrider as an individual game and evaluate it to see if its elements are coherent, or if they are trying to stack opposing design elements. We will be discussing the graphics, the level design, the mechanics, the bosses, the bike sections, the rank system, and much more. Currently the game seems to be available on all consoles, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, PS4, PS5, and PC (Steam).
