Years of conflict have ravaged all five world heritage sites in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. All are now on the List of World Heritage in Danger, having suffered from massive poaching and loss of habitat. A high-level meeting in Kinshasa will take place on 14 January to draw up a rescue plan for these irreplaceable natural treasures.
