When we presented Gareth Brereton with the task of choosing the best ostentatiously decorated, otherwise mundane object, he went straight to ancient beer, but posh ancient beer. Chemical analysis dates beer brewing to 6000 years ago in Ancient Mesopotamia - and while they didn't have fancy craft beers back then, they still knew how to make the amber nectar just that touch pretentious.
