This is a great exercise to do with any puppy, but especially a pup or young dog who is on the nervous side! This young pup, Indy, needs to build some confidence. One of the ways we do this is by pairing things that make him uncertain with something that evokes very pleasant feelings, like food! In this video we've created a makeshift obstacle course—something he was not about to partake in on his own—and used food luring and verbal encouragement to help him navigate the various obstacles. As with anything, courage takes practice! It is to your dog's benefit to help him practice courage early on.
This is easy to do on a budget as it requires only your dog's daily kibble and a little creativity with items you already have! Have fun with it!
Stay calm and train on, friends. :)
