Suni and the Seven Princesses, a group of octogenarian South Korean rappers, have gained popularity by rapping about farm life in a quiet rural area facing a population decline.
Formed in Chilgok county, North Gyeongsang province, the group, initially with 150 fans, has become local celebrities, performing in various towns and appearing on TV shows.
The group's lyrics reflect their rural experiences, expressing joy in activities like picking chillies and watermelons, bringing a sense of nostalgia to both the performers and their audience.
Inspired by Suni and the Seven Princesses, other senior rap groups in Chilgok have emerged, some with the purpose of combating dementia and loneliness among the elderly.
