The Garden of Taizo-in Temple (退蔵院) During the Sakura Season in Ukyo-ku, Kyoto!
This temple was founded by Hatano Shigemichi as daimyo of Izumo province in 1404 AD. The Yoko-En (pond garden)is especially beautiful in spring and fall. The landscape gardener Nakane Kinsaku designed this expansive garden. Construction began in 1963 and took three years to complete. The Yoko-en contains the elegance within austerity that was the basis for traditional garden landscapes, and can be called one of the Showa period's (1926-1989) finest gardens.
