Stormvloedkering Hollandse IJssel - Algerabrug
Objective: To protect the land areas behind it from flooding. The structure consists of two barriers, and includes the truss/bascule bridge "Algerabrug", and the lock "Algerasluis".
The build of the structure was used to create a fixed passage to replace the ferry.
Construction started: January 1954. A year after large parts of the south-western areas of the Netherlands were flooded.
