On September 12, 1759 , after a month-long siege, the british army landed at a small bay on a bank of the river st. Lawrence, protected by a French gun battery. After a night march, the British under General James Wolfe suprised and defeated the French under General Louis-Joseph de Moncalm on the plains of Abraham. The fleeing French were covered by the Indian allies, allowing them to flee into the town. The battle on the plains of Abraham lasted only 15 minutes, but both generals fell in the battle. The battle of Quebec seals the end of the French quest for supremacy.
