Alongside doing many other modifications/upgrades to my beastly turbo vr v6 commodore ute, I finally decided to convert my T5 with thr crappy old heavy cable clutch to a nice hydraulic setup.
PLEASE NOTE:
-Due to the setup of the clutch fork, you need to have enough throw of the pedal and make sure your clutch needs 8mm or less of push at the fingers to release.
-This may not work on any old setup, though if you can remove the master cylinder pushrod and make it adjustable you can most likely make it work pretty well.
-The reason this worked perfectly for me is because my clutches are custom built to have as little throw required etc.
Have done all the trial and error for you guys and can report back with great success.
Basically what I used was:
-VS Commodore S-III hydraulic pedal box
-VS Commodore S-III 3/4" (19mm) clutch master & firewall bracket
-Early model Ford XR/XT 3/4" (19mm) clutch slave cylinder
-Speedflow AN-3 200 series line and fittings
-Billet aluminium clutch fluid reservoir
And to mount the slave, you will need to fabricate a bracket.
With my custom built clutch setup consisting of a 1500kg pressure plate, the pedal pressure is definitely a bit lighter than the stock cable clutch. With a standard clutch, you will notice an even better gain in pedal feel.
