Some rare amateur 16mm footage of a Handley Page H.P.42 from the inside of the craft looking out while on a flight. This type was introduced in 1931, and at that time was the largest airliner in the world, able to carry 24 passengers and fitted with four Bristol Jupiter (490hp) engines.
G-AAUD was named after the Carthaginian explorer Hanno the Navigator. It first flew on 19 July 1931. She suffered a hard landing at Entebbe, but was returned to service. The aircraft joined No. 271 Squadron RAF but was destroyed in a gale at Whitchurch Airport, Bristol in March 1940.
This footage was taken by someone who was a passenger on a flight some time in the middle 1930s (I suspect 1933). I personally don't know which location the plane is in, but I guess it is somewhere in Africa. I don't believe this footage has been seen for some 50 years.
Music by Bensounds.com (going higher), and the cabin noise is dubbed with the sound of 4 Bristol Engines.
