Our littler of puppies now 6 weeks old and it is a time to start working with them one on one, separated from the group.
As a group they are pack and off course act like a pack - if one have interest in something the rest will follow and it is valuable tool to start them on many things together as a group. But now it is time to check and see who they really are without that “back up” from their mafia partners.
This video shows their very first one on one interaction and the main things I am looking for is natural abilities - engagement will be at the top of the list - are individual puppy want to be in human company, how much?
First meeting with ball on string - any interest to chase, grab and hold it in the mouth? How each play tag and how they bite? How they rebite? First taste of hot dog ( hot dogs is what many use for training in different sports as it is easier to hold in the hand than treats). Are they easily distracted? And so on..
Pretty much everything trainable but it is always easier if puppy have natural abilities for specific tasks - makes training in the future easier for those specific tasks
