Sassari is the second biggest city on the island of Sardinia (Italy) but it is often overshadowed by more famous destinations such as Cagliari and Alghero, and is very rarely visited by tourists. I stopped there for a few hours on my way from Alghero to Cagliari by train and I most definitely didn't have any expectations about the city. Boy, was I surprised?
