CDC reports cases of a dangerous fungus, Candida auris, tripled over just three years, with more than half of states in the U.S. having now reported it.
The fungus is a form of yeast that is usually not harmful to healthy people, but it can be a deadly risk to fragile hospital and nursing home patients. It can spread via wounds, ears and bloodstream.
