China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) has recently conducted a live-fire drill in a plateau training field in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region to improve its strike capabilities.
The drill started at 04:00 with the outdoor temperature being zero degrees Celsius in the training field located on a 4,600-meter high plateau. After intensive preparations, orders were given to soldiers to conduct live-fire shooting.
On orders, the long-range rocket unit began precise shooting at simulated targets including armored vehicle group, missile launchers and command posts, to be followed by collecting information on the strike and damage efficiencies.
Meanwhile, gun-howitzer unit began to maneuver toward the field and finished shooting preparations such as building position, setting up observation post and got ammunition and equipment all set for shooting drill.
Followed closely the long-range rocket unit shooting exercise, the gun-howitzer unit launched live-fire attack on simulated targets such as bunker group and command posts by using varied strike methods including salvo and rapid shooting.
The drill lasted till late night when soldiers fired different kinds of ammunition to strike simulated enemy position in the high-cold and oxygen deficit condition.
