I've been a fan of Concept2's rower for many years and after using WattBike's Pro and Trainer models extensively, decided to go with the far cheaper BikeErg when it came to buying my own bike. I don't regret that decision one bit, I'd actually have paid MORE for the BikeErg than a WattBike!
I've done over 1000km in 2 months, with some sessions of 60 and 70km but I'm yet to reach the illusive 100km in a single session.
In this video, I'll be discussing the pros, cons and a couple of the "faux cons" of the machine.
Edit: Since filming this some "neutral" points have come to mind or been brought to my attention.
1) Noise. It's not as noisy as the Concept2 rower, and the noise is fairly constant. At 1 metre it generates 67dB when going as my relatively fast standard pace of about 1:50/1000m on a low drag.
2) Calibration: When doing ranking distances it sometimes asks you to do a full calibration, which takes 2 or 3 minutes. This isn't something that happens on the rower or SkiErg, but it does ensure that your results are consistent and reliable.
3) Movement/rigidity: When cycling fairly hard, the BikeErg does sway about slightly (all nuts etc are fully tightened). This may well be a good thing, since a totally rigid machine may not actually feel as good.
Please feel free to leave your thoughts, comments or questions and I'll get back to you when I can.
