On Thursday 19th January the US Government hits it Debt ceiling.
In basic terms, they have reached the limit on the amount of dollars that they can borrow, but they need to borrow more
The government must fund programs and schemes already approved by presidents and Congress.
Since they run a budget deficit each year, there is not enough to fund these commitments so borrowing must occur
The debt ceiling is currently $31.4 trillion dollars, and crypto investors are anticipating a switching on of the money printers once again,
Treasury secretary Janet Yelln promised "Extraordinary Measures" to deal with the situation
For reference, the Debt Ceiling has been raised over 100 times since world war 1, so anticipation of another raise which could also see the Federal Reserve ease off of tight restrictions, seems likely
