STORYLINE
Hundreds of people marched through the streets of Rome on Saturday to protest against racism in Italy.
A group of African men carried signs saying "Permits of stay for everyone."
The protests come after several attacks carried out recently against immigrants in Italy.
On September 18, six African immigrants were killed in a gangland-style shooting in Caserta, a city near Naples.
Police believed the Camorra, an organized crime syndicate based in the area, was behind the killings.
Earlier this week, a group of young boys surrounded a 36-year-old Chinese man in Rome while he was waiting for a bus and badly beat him up, local media reported.
In the northern city of Parma, seven local police officers were being investigated for beating up a young Ghanian student.
And in Milan, a 19-year-old man from Burkina Faso was beaten to death with metal bars by two bar owners who caught him stealing biscuits, according to local media.
