Round Valley Camp is in the beautiful San Jacinto State Park Wilderness, part of the California State Park system. At 9,100’ this was a magnificent nine-mile hike to camp. We hiked up to camp in part one – link below - and this is our day hike on the Long Valley Loop on day two and the journey back down the Wellman Divide on day three with a Rattlesnake on the trail. This three-day journey was a challenge as the elevation was constantly changing. Even going down the mountain on Sunday, involved a 700’ hike up before we began the descent back to Idyllwild at approximately 6,500'.
