The first ever “Golden Bachelor” will marry his fiancée in a wedding to be televised live on ABC next month, the septuagenarian couple revealed during the show's finale Thursday night, marking the first “Bachelor” nuptials in almost a decade and the quickest ever wedding for a franchise that doesn't usually end in happily-ever-after.“At our age, we don’t have a lot of time to waste,” Turner said after announcing his upcoming wedding date."The Bachelor" first premiered in 2002 on ABC and was renewed earlier this year for its 28th season. Its success has led to several spin-off shows including "The Bachelorette," which recently concluded its 20th season, "Bachelor in Paradise" (9 seasons) and "The Golden Bachelor." There have been 27 bachelors since the show’s season premiere, 10 of which ended without a proposal. In total, only three couples from “The Bachelor” got married—Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Lauren Burnham, Lowe and Giudici and Mesnick and Malaney—and all three are still together today. “The Bachelorette” and “Bachelor In Paradise” have resulted in a dozen other marriages. Of the three married “Bachelors,” only one ended up tying the knot with the woman he originally proposed to. Both Burnham and Malaney ended their seasons as runner-ups only to marry their bachelor later on. If "The Golden Bachelor" gets a second season. The newest show in Bachelor nation notched the most popular premiere of the last several seasons, including episodes of "The Bachelorette" and "Bachelor in Paradise." The premiere brought 4.3 million people to ABC and another 3.34 million viewers in delayed cross-platform viewing on streaming services like Hulu, giving it the biggest multi-platform audience for the franchise since 2020. It was also the highest-rated debut for an unscripted ABC series in nearly two years.
