My parents and I came from Hong Kong at the age of eight back in the early 1960s, and at the time Chinatown was so small. Basically Chinatown is Mott Street and Bayard Street. Anything outside of that is not Chinatown. I lived in New York Chinatown until I joined the Navy back in 1973-74. After I got out of the Navy, I realized I should do some service in this town where I grew up at, so here I am. Chinese culture has been here for over 5,000 years. Of course I would like to keep up with the traditions, but I am happy to see what Chinatown is today.
