At the inauguration of the new Parliament House on 28th May 2023, PM Narendra Modi will establish the historical and sacred 'Sengol' (a decorated stick that is carried by a queen or king during some official ceremonies as a symbol of their authority) in the Parliament House. It will be installed close to the Speaker’s podium in the Lok Sabha.
Considered as the symbol of fair and equitable governance, Raj danda, Nyaya Pradarshak, this is the same Sengol that was accepted by the first Prime Minister of India, Shri Jawaharlal Nehru on the night of 14th August 1947, even before the most famous speech of pandit ji - #TrystWithDestiny , It was precisely the moment in which power was transferred by the British into the hands of Indians.
