On today's special report, Sarah Hoxie speaks with Rob Ondrus, Director of Category Management for Produce for Reinhart Foodservice from the floor at PMA Foodservice 2012. Mr. Ondrus describes his new position at Reinhart, explaining that the company is looking to not only expand the category, but to also help customers with the formation of novel, innovative ideas. Reinhart's key initiatives are to grow the produce category and to work more extensively with customers. Mr. Ondrus also reflects on what he looks for in a supplier partner: similar culture, morals, and ethics, transparency, and healthy exchange of ideas. The goal of the relationship is to ensure that multiple categories have multiple uses in the industry.
The fresh items showcased at PMA Foodservice that particularly stood out to Mr. Ondrus were blueberries, which boast an excellent shelf life, antioxidants, and Super Food status, as well as the variety of different salad blends that have more color and volume for Reinhart's customers to maximize profitability.
