A new trailer for Shogun episode 9, "Crimson Sky," teases Mariko taking command in Osaka. The historical drama on FX, based on James Clavell's Shogun book, debuted in February to enthusiastic acclaim from reviewers and viewers alike. Ten episodes overall will be included in the series, and each week will see Lord Toranaga (Hiroyuki Sanada) take on his political opponents in feudal Japan, raising the stakes every week.
The first trailer for Shogun episode 9, which airs on Tuesday next week, was published by F X Networks following the show's unexpected conclusion.
The latest teaser for the show suggests that Mariko will play a major role in the penultimate episode as she tries to take over Osaka and carry out Toranaga's scheme.
It's evident from the first episode that Shogun doesn't hesitate to show violence on film. Thus far, these have shown a man being cooked alive, horses and people being torn apart by cannon fire, and horrific portrayals of seppuku, a death rite that entails beheading and disemboweling. Even though Toranaga's journey hasn't been easy thus far, his goal probably calls for more deaths.
