We paid a visit to Flagstaff, Arizona to catch UA Mission Run Dark Sky's Weini Kelati in one of her final workouts before she competes at the 2023 USATF Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Kelati has put together a strong outdoor season, which includes a 31:04.16 personal best for 10,000m on May 20th in London, UK and a 14:53.41 personal best for 5000m in Montesson, France on June 10. She represented the U.S. at the World Cross Country Championships in February and finished 21st in the world. It was her first time qualifying for a U.S. national team since defecting to America from Eritrea after the 2014 World Junior Championships. She became a U.S. citizen ahead of the 2021 U.S. Olympic Trials and is now looking to qualify for her first global championship on the track.
Kelati, who was a two-time NCAA champion at New Mexico has been an Under Armour athlete since December 2020.
Video in partnership with Under Armour.
