A developing zebrafish embryo from 5 to 19 hours post fertilization is shown in the movie. Every cell in the embryo is labelled with a nuclear marker and is color coded for its position along the depth of the sample. Multiple views of the embryo were acquired at each time-point and fused to obtain uniform resolution. At the beginning of the movie, the embryo is a mass of cells sitting on top of a spherical yolk. These cells dynamically reorganize themselves through a process called 'gastrulation' to form the body axis, giving rise to the brain, eyes, spinal cord and tail of the fish, wrapped around the yolk at the end of the movie.
