The software Ploidy Work Station (PWS) automates the handling and analysis of nucleic images for DNA ploidy. The software package localises the nuclei, focuses the camera and segments the nuclei, separating it from the surrounding image. Each cropped, focused nucleic image is then categorised according to cell type and DNA content based on pre-defined criteria. PWS Classifier displays the nuclei galleries to the analyst, who can manually go through and inspect individual nuclei, if necessary. A histogram showing the optical density of all nuclei in the tumor sample is automatically created and classified as diploid, tetraploid or aneuploid.
