Brass quintet again today, and I'm continuing to experiment with these pieces that have an emphasis on the silences and rests between notes, as well as how the sound interacts with the space the performers are in.
Here, I use staggered entries for a "bell"-like effect, as well as staggered releases. There are also a few moments of silence from the ensemble except for one player, allowing for these moments where the live player is surrounded only by the reverb and echoes of the other parts.
As always, these pieces are welcome for anyone and everyone to play! All I ask is that you share it with me, because I'd love to hear it done by live players!
