Exceptional periods such as the pandemic pose major risks for democracy and human rights. In response to the pandemic, over one hundred countries have declared national emergencies, empowering governments to act in ways they would not normally. This session will discuss how COVID-19 has affected democracy and what the prospects for the future are.
The session is chaired by Rachel Gisselquist, with presentations from Joseph Asunka, Nic Cheeseman and Julia Leininger.
