How many of these plugins do we actually need? How different do they really sound? These are the questions that led to me starting this project. The results surprised me, and I now know exactly what I’m getting - and what I’m not getting - the next time Neural DSP has a sale.

Hi, my name's Josh. I'm a musician's kid who didn't pick up music till after high school. I enjoy a variety of things, but my roots lie in classic rock, heavy metal, and orchestral music. I like things heavy with the dynamics of classical music & melodic and/or bluesy leads. Sometimes, that's what comes out of me.

I'm heavily influenced by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Metallica, Pink Floyd, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Audioslave, Opeth, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Epica, Blind Guardian, Tool, (old) In Flames, Rabea Massaad, Ola Englund, and not least by Mountain Magic.

1970’s Gibson Ripper Bass (not sure of exact year; Gibson’s serial number system in the 70s were God awful)

I use various Neural DSP amp sims, but my core sound is Archetype Gojira (amp 2) blended with Archetype Plini (amp 3) with a touch of Archetypes Rabea, Petrucci, and Nolly as well as the Nameless in the mix from time to time. Bass sounds also from NDSP's Parralax. Any orchestral things you hear is from Spitfire Audio's BBC Symphony or Heavyocity's Damage 2.
