25 Minute Yoga Nidra to Reset the Nervous System | Relax to the Soothing Sounds of Rain
When was the last time you paused and took a deep breath? Enjoy this 25 minute yoga nidra or non sleep deep rest experience to reset your nervous system. Weave this into your daily routine anytime you need to shut down and reboot, let go of the grip of the external world, to-do lists, and turn off the monkey brain. Relax into this nourishing and spacious body scan to cultivate body awareness and let go of tension to dissolve and dive deeply into relaxation.
Relax into the soothing sounds of rainfall as Kristyn guides you into a deep light altered state of consciousness. You can think of this short practice like the most nourishing afternoon power nap or like a warm cup of tea on a rainy day, or like a soothing balm for the body and central nervous system. Many of us live a busy life and spend most of our days in a sympathetic nervous state of 'fight or flight' but here you'll tip the scale into the parasympathetic division of 'rest and digest'. This exploration of Anamaya Kosha, or the first layer or sheath of the Self, is the stepping stone to access all of the more subtle layers. Cultivating body awareness is a powerful tool and a necessary first step in diving deep from the gross body to the more subtle layers.
Allow the sound of rain to wash away your worries and cleanse away any impurities, anything that stands in your way or is holding you back, as you move through a body scan followed by awareness of breath up and down the body. Also, in yoga nidra we work with Sankulpa or intention setting. Here Kristyn will offer the collective intention, 'I am resting deeply now to nourish and restore all of the layers of myself.' By planting the seed of Sankulpa deep into the subconscious mind the deepest states of relaxation, we begin to rewire those neural pathways and decide which direction we want our life to go. Imagine relaxing back into peaceful wakeful regenerative sleep, in just a couple of minutes.
