After months of training, my husband is finally ready to fulfill his life’s goal of running in his first star major marathon in London on 23/04/2023.
We nearly didn’t make it to London because our flight from Sydney was delayed and we had a connection flight to take. When we landed for the connection flight, the departure gate was so far away that we had to run for our life to catch it. So grateful that we made it but our luggage didn’t. So when we arrived London in the early morning, we were left without our luggage and that was truly frustrating. However, we were pleasantly surprised when our luggage was delivered to us in the hotel at night. It was such a great relief.
The day has finally came but the sky was not looking good. Well this is London after all. It was drizzling, chilly and the ground was wet from the start of the run to the end. However, the support from the crowd was really phenomenal from the first km to the last. They were practically cheering, calling out and some even making music from the bells and all sort of gadgets brought along. The cheering helps to encourage the runners a lot during the last 5km run to the finishing line. Even though runners were wet, exhausted and shivering after completed the run, most were very joyful to finish and receive their hard earned medals.
All in all, it was an unforgettable experience and my husband managed to achieve his personal best time with a runner toe. I am so proud of him.
