【Pls look at the top comment first】For loyal hard rock and melodic rock fans, Güru is not an obscure band. For Spanish native rock lovers, Güru should never be missed as one of the greatest rock icons from Spain coming out in the 21st century. Güru's albums feature different colours and their music works are filled with colours.
Turn back time to 2010. About the formation of Güru, it can be dated back to the end of the noughties onwards, which was founded by vocalist, guitarist, composer and producer David Palau, who is the backbone of Güru all the way.
From the date when Güru formally came out into the public sight to present, it has been over a decade. The first decade always means a lot to the artist. To be more precious, in the past decade, Güru truly stood out as an independent band with excellent original works.
David Palau, the founder of Güru, is a Latin Grammy Winner of 2012, who played and toured with lots of American rock legends and has been dedicated to all the studio albums of his band Güru. Güru also opened for the rock legends Bon Jovi, Y&T, Paul Gilbert and Mike Tramp. Their reputation has been spread overseas.
In the past decade, Güru experienced several line-up changes. Each former and current member is the skilled musician, making Güru's album made at the very high level.
The debut featured each original member on creations. It was the beginning of Güru with this debut as a precious and memorable release. Sometimes the debut is also called "Black" because of its colour on the CD cover. Both David Palau and Pau Sastre sang on vocals as we can see Güru is a band, featuring the duo vocals. Their voices can can be easily distinguished. This "Black" debut is perfectly combined hard rock with aor, including the flaming rocking tunes and the souful ballads. More or less latin music elements can be heard from their works.
The first song in the video is "I Found My Way" from the debut, written and sung by David Palau with his hoarse and soul-stirring voice. Like a storyteller, his singing carries a feeling of vicissitudes, perfect for the soulful ballads.
When this ballad verse comes into ears, it truly sounds in vein of Foreigner's "I Want to Know What Love Is". From its verse to its chorus, it is just like a change from a black-white scene to a colourful scene. The song can touch every striver who is far away from hometown as well as can touch the one who provides a sense of belonging for every rootless person, maybe is the family or the one you love.
After the deut, except David Palau, all the members were replaced, but they were all dedicated to a good beginning of Güru.
The second song in the video is "Days Of Youth" from Güru's 2021 album "10 Years". As the album title shows, it has gone through 10 years since Güru's debut came out.
"10 Years" features the most classic line-up of Güru. After the debut, Güru was changed from a five-piece band to a four-piece band, but the band still includes the duo vocals as before. They continued to release albums by themselves. With 10 years of cultivation on the dedicated works, Güru has become a rock pride of Spain.
Since the second album "White", a mighty vocalist joined Güru. He is Dagarod from Madrid. Dagarod is a renowned rock singer, who performed in Manuel Seoane's project Burning Kingdom on lead vocals. He can bring Güru a stronger, more powerful vocal style to the tracks of the heavier taste as well as elegance to the ballads.
This soulful ballad "Days Of Youth" carries the deepest emotion from the two vocalists sharing on duet, which should become a hit single in the album "10 Years" and a glory for Güru's past 10 years.
This classic line-up gathered together after the thrid Spanish album "Red", in which Joan Barbé started to play with the band on drums, who is a notable multi-instrumentalist and an all-around musician from Ibiza. One year later, bassist Diego Teruel joined the band, who shared the primary dream with David Palau in the 1980s.
There is a music video of "Days Of Youth", which was filmed in the street of Vilafranca del Penedès (the hometown of David and Diego) and along the outside of the church Basílica de Santa Maria. The video is interspersed with some memorable scenes, featuring those 1980s days when David and Diego played together in their youth, which is the theme of the song "Days Of Youth". Diego has been a friend of David since childhood and during their youth, they shared vinyl LPs, cassette and many laughs.
"10 Years" carries many deep emotions on creations, including lots of classic tunes taken from the former three albums as well as the new songs created for "10 Years".
Güru's album titles are simple and easy to be remembered, some of which featured the pattern colours of the album covers such as "White" and "Red". After "10 Years", the second decade of Güru has been opened. The two video clips are made for Güru as my best salute. Best wishes !
