In a world first in February 2023, Heirloom captured CO2 from the atmosphere at our Direct Air Capture (DAC) facility at our HQ in Brisbane, CA and worked with CarbonCure Technologies to permanently sequester it in concrete - which was used in projects around the Bay Area.

As we wait for geological storage wells to come online in the US - which will provide the largest amount of permanent CO2 storage (read more about them at heirloomcarbon.com/news) - concrete is currently one of the only durable storage options available today. Concrete is also abundant and geographically ubiquitous - so it is solution that can scale as different CO2 removal technologies like DAC scale globally.
