We are in the dry Andes, on the Puna plateau, grassy steppes at an altitude of between 3800 and 5000 meters. In this region, the Indians have kept some of their traditions and rites, whose origins are rooted in the civilization of the Incas.
Every year, they prepare a prestigious ceremony: the Turupukllay, in other words, the Feast of the Blood.
Dimas is the laykayok, "he who captures the condor". In Cotabambas, he is an important celebrity. Every year for the past forty years, he leaves, with a dozen or so men, to the high plateaus with a mission: to capture the sacred legendary birds in order to perpetuate the secular rite of celebrating Yawar.
