Benefits of Hanging Adeniums Before Repotting
The video shows the miraculous benefits of hanging that happens after repotting adenium plant.Adeniums have a bonsai like look for its massive caudex and bushy canopy. So we, the adenium growers always try to make the caudex more massive and the canopy more bushy. Repotting and pruning are the simple ways of getting massive caudex and bushy canopy. But you`ve noticed adeniums are left hanging in shade for some days before repotting.
Now this video shares with you the benefits of hanging. Duration of hanging depends on the plant`s age, health,caudex size, and temperature in the atmosphere. During the hanging period the plant goes thru fasting that means without any water and nutrient. Moreover it dehydrates water stored in its caudex and the caudex shrinks.
Taking all in all, the desert rose plant neither collects water nor does it stop stored water being dehydrated. It feels a drought like situation where there is no water, no nutrient to survive. After repotting the adenium starts growing feeder roots to collect more water particles
and nutrients. It grows more branches to get more leaves for making food. The shrinked caudex is filled up with water and nutrient. Thus the adenium over comes the situation it was thrown into.
Then miracle starts to happen. The plant starts rapid cell division to expand its storing place ie. caudex to store more water and nutrient for future drought. As a result the caudex expands and the canopy becomes more bushy with more branches.
Now how can we hang? The branches upwards or the roots upwards? dot basecamp tried both but no significant difference is found.
