Fans are electro-magnetic devices used to create flow or movement of gasses such as air by turning electrical energy into mechanical motion. This video covers some of the basic terminology used when selecting or replacing a fan or blower. Some considerations when choosing a fan include size, type, noise level, operating voltage, operating temperature, ingress protection, feedback, airflow in cubic feet per minute (CFM) and static pressure which is the fans ability to overcome resistance to airflow. These considerations are illustrated in this video.
