This video is a 2 part in dept detailed walkthrough of Songtradr.com
This video is a 2 part documentary. The first part of this film reviews all of the key features and functions of the Songtrader.com website. It is a detailed and educational walkthrough of the site. The second part of this film is covering an issue concerning the search results from the site. Apparently the owner of the site Paul Wiltshire's songs are showing up first over paid Songtradr Pro Members. This video will reveal that Featured Artists who are not upgraded are also showing up 1st on search results. This would prove that the site is manipulating its database search results in favor of the owner Paul Wiltshire and any artist that is a Featured Artist and or any artists that are displayed on curated playlist. What this means is if I have a song title with the exact same name as the owner eg. "Dangerous". Paul's song "Dangerous" would show up before my song in the search results. Not only will Paul's songs show up before my test song named "Dangerous". His song will show up 1st 100% of the time. As a retired I.T. professional. I was a PHP, MySQL website developer I have proven that Songtradr is manipulating the search results in order to place specific songs ahead of other members regardless if the account is upgraded or not.
This video exposes the unfair practice of placing the owners songs 1st in buyers search results. While paid and non-paid members songs are displayed after Featured Artists songs are displayed. By watching this film you will discover that songs with identical names are ranked in the search results differently. It appears that the every song owned by the CEO Paul Wiltshire shows up first during song title searchers. What this means is of the buyer (Licensee) is searching for a song by title, genre, mood or keywords or any search related parameters every search will generate a search result that will automatically place Paul's songs 1st. If Paul does not have a song using the search criteria the next priority in the search results would be Featured Artists regardless if they are upgraded or not. Assuming after the featured artists do not fit the search criteria everyone else on the site (including myself) will be ranked by some unknown sort order. The site calls this an "Intuitive search". The site describes and Intuitive Search as follows;
Intuitive Search: The Songtradr search system defaults to our intuitive search. This allows searches across all data fields in our database (including genres, keywords, moods and lyrics) for matches to any words entered into the search box on a relational basis.
However this search will look for the keyword in every field yielding a long list of songs in a unknown ranking order. Meaning there is no logic to how songs are ranked if there are no Featured Artists or if Paul's song does not match the search word. What this reveals is that they can manipulate the search results to display in any particular order that they want. Thus giving many songs an unfair advantage. As of May 3rd there exact match search does not work.
Exact Match Search: To search specific artist, song titles, or phrases, add quotation marks to your search phrase as this will provide more refined results e.g. "riding the blue train"
Using an exact match will yield the same type of result where the search would include all words in the phrase eg. "riding" will be searched, then "the" will be searched, then "blue" will be searched, then "train" will be search in all fields. This could result in over 10,000 songs in the results. The issue is which songs shows up 1st in these large results? The answer is Paul's songs shows up 1st if his songs match the criteria. The Featured Artists also shows up 1st IF Paul's songs do not show up first.
The Songtradr walkthrough Part A covers the site and its main features. Part B covers the issue of Paul's and Featured Artists songs showing up 1st in search results. If you want to skip the walkthrough just go to Part B:
