Battlefield 1 Map reveal includes Amiens, The St. Quentin Scar, Monte Grappa and Empire’s Edge.
In Today's Battlefield 1 History Lesson I discuss the famous World War 1 Battle of Mont Saint-Quentin (1918) which was part of the Hundred Days Offensive. General Henry Rawlinson, described the Australian advances on Mont Saint-Quentin as the greatest military achievement of World War 1.

As part of the Allied counteroffensives on the Western Front in the late summer of 1918, the Australian Corps crossed the Somme River on the night of August 31, and broke the German lines at Mont Saint-Quentin and Péronne.
The Australian 2nd Division led by General John Monash was up against a formidable and successful foe in the German Empire’s 2nd Armee under General Max Von Boehn.
The successful recapture at Mont Saint-Quentin guaranteed that the Germans would not be able to stop the allies west of the Hindenburg Line.
Robert James Young, 25th Battalion, originally from Brisbane, received the Military Medal for his heroic actions on the Battlefield. During the attack he selected a position on a hill which was being heavily shelled at the time. He remained there for half an hour trying to establish visual communication. When this failed, he at once ran at a line to the Forward Station through very heavy machine gun and artillery fire and remained out on the line the whole day, keeping it in order. Throughout the whole operation he showed an utter disregard of danger and set a fine example to all his men.
At Mont Saint-Quentin now stands the Second Australian Division War Memorial that was previously an infantryman of the AIF in full battle dress powerfully thrusting down with his bayonet into the belly of an eagle which lay on its back on the ground. This was unveiled by Marshall Ferdinand Foch who spoke of the seizure of Mont Saint-Quentin as one of the ‘finest feats of arms in a time rich in innumerable deeds of heroism’.
I’m super stoked to be revisiting the Battlefield of The St. Quentin Scar as not only a gamer, but a history buff too even though it might not be recollecting this particular Battle in the First World War timeline .
The Description from EA Dice for the new map The St. Quentin Scar:
The St. Quentin Scar places you into a massive battle on the scarred battlefield of Northern France. As part of the Kaiser’s battle, the German army must throw everything they have to try to break through the British lines. Players will have to push through the trenches of the St. Quentin Scar. Be the first soldier to break through the fortified lines and assault Travecy, a village so far untouched by war.
