A monster plant for halloween: my awesome crazy Monstera deliciosa houseplant has been in bloom for over 2 months now......it is on to it's third flowering structure (inflorescence) at the moment...with two more to go! The genus Monstera is part of the aroid plant family (Araceae)......all having this very distinctive, strange looking flowering structure (inflorescence). There are two parts or structures to every inflorescence: a cylindrical structure in the middle (the spadix), and a usually white bract behind it (the spathe). The actual flowers are tiny, but numerous, all located on the central, columnar spadix!
It is very unusual and rare for a Monstera deliciosa to bloom indoors......so I grow mine outdoors but in the full shade during the summer months! It loves it's spot in the garden - and the rich blooms are telling me: it is HAPPY!!!
Please enjoy!
Cheers,
Joe
